Saturday 29th October and Sunday 30th October, chestnuts for everybody in Piazza Garibaldi in Menaggio.
In the past centuries and during the first decades of this century, chestnuts, together with potatoes, polenta and cheese, represented some of the main ingredients of the local diet. This fruit has today lost its primordial importance, but it is often eaten at this time of the year during village fairs. And so, to mark the end of the tourist season, a welcome to Autumn with two days dedicated to a much loved product on Lake Como: the chestnut.
