Friday, 25th November, at 20:30, at Lenno’s Local Library, lecture on occasion of the International Day Against Violence on Women.
25th November was chosen in 1999 as the International Day for the elimination of violence against women by the United Nations General Assembly, which officialised a date that was chosen by a group of activist women, who met at the Latin American Feminist Meeting that took place in Bogotà in 1981.
This date was chosen to remember the savage murder in 1960 of the three Mirabal sisters, who were considered revolutionary women for the commitment with which they tried to oppose the government of Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961), the dictator who has kept the Dominican Republic in backwardness and chaos for over 30 years.
The Municipality of Tremezzina, People’s Services Counsellorship, with the cooperation of La Famiglia Guidance Council of Menaggio and Como and the ICARUS Guidance Council of Como, on occasion of the International Day Against Violence on Women, organize a theme evening, with the participation of: Dr Giuseppina Quattrone (lawyer), Dr Sonia Monticelli (psycotherapist), Dr Lorenzo Castelli (psycotherapist), Dr Isabella Riva (psychologist).
