PrimaV…arenna! Nature comes to live on Lake Como


On March 25 and 26, Varenna celebrates the coming of spring with the forth edition of the PrimaV…arenna Festival.
There’ll be street markets in piazza San Giorgio, guided tours in the gardens of Villa Monastero, Villa Cipressi e Villa Sartirana, the solo exhibition of Lidia Vanzetti‘s botanic watercolours at and the opening of the Greenway of Patriarchi.

The Patriarch’s Greenway Path is a slow walk across Varenna and its beautiful hamlets, through alleys and paths, with panoramic views of the lake. There’ll be two botanic guided tours starting from piazza dei Martiri della Liberazione: Saturday 25 at 10:45 am and Sunday 26 2:00 pm. Advance booking required.

The guided tours of the gardens of Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi will take place at the following times:
Saturday 25 March at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM
Meeting point: Villa Cipressi Entrance, 15 minutes before

Sunday 26 March at 10:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM
Meeting point: Villa Cipressi Entrance, 15 minutes before.
Meeting point for the 5:00 PM tour: Villa Monastero Entrance

For the first time the private gardens of Villa Sartirana Mapelli will open to the public.
Guided tours will take place at the following times:
Saturday 25 March at 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM
Meeting point: San Giorgio church porch, 15 minutes before

Sunday 26 March at 10:30 AM, 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM
Meeting point: San Giorgio church porch, 15 minutes before

Saturday 25th March in the afternoon Paolo Pejrone, famous landscape architect, will talk about gardens and landscapes with Sophie Agata Ambroise and Marco Bay at the gardens of the Fiumelatte train station.
