Shamekia Copeland

Live concert of Shamekia Copeland at Piazza Cavour, Como.
The artist this year won the Blues Music Award for Contemporary Blues Female Artist Of The Year at the 37th Annual Blues Music Awards, held in Memphis.
Shemekia was nominated in two other categories (Contemporary Blues Album and B. B. King Entertainer). Outskirts of Love, her eighth album released by Alligator Records in September 2015, was also nominated for a Grammy Award.

With a voice that is alternately sultry, assertive and roaring, Shemekia’s wide-open vision of contemporary blues, roots and soul music showcases the evolution of a passionate artist with a modern musical and lyrical approach.

Shemekia’s a ball-of-fire vocalist with a voice that’s part Memphis, part Chicago and all woman… devastatingly powerful. She’s a great singer, period.
