From Saturady, 1st October, until Sunday, 20th November, Miniartextil, which for 26 years has brought the name of the town of Como all over the world and internationally famous artists on the shores of the lake, is back.
Miniartextil is an annual international exhibition of contemporary art showing the best in Textile Art, an art sector with a revolutionary approach to the textile heritage and its materials.
It started in Como in 1991 and over the years it managed to grow outside of the national boundaries and to become a protagonist in many Italian and foreign cities.
The theme of the exhibition is To Weave Dreams: an invite to the artists all over the world to realize a dream, to make a wish, to weave hopes.
The minitextiles, selected by an artistic jury, and the big installations, such as the works of artists’ collective Numen/For Use and American artists Janet Echelman and Crystal Wagner, selected by the Arte&Arte association and its administrator Luciano Caramel, will involve two exhibition sites: the Ex Church of San Francesco in Como and Villa Bernasconi in Cernobbio.
